Just 10% of domestic buildings in Louth have A grade energy rating
The figures from the end of 2024 showed that only 5% of dwellings in Leitrim have an A-rated energy status, cork city was the only other region to join Leitrim on 5%.
The data showed where the highest and lowest amount of energy certificates were awarded in the country and how new dwellings built in recent years performed.
9,295 certificates were handed out in Leitrim, 11% of them received a G-rating - the lowest score - which was the second highest of any county in the country.
Meanwhile, the highest proportions of A-ratings across all dwellings were in Kildare (27%) and Meath (25%).
A total of 153,558 Building Energy Rating (BER) certificates were awarded to new and existing dwellings in 2024.
Newer dwellings scored high in energy efficiency with 99% of homes built between 2020 and 2024 being awarded an A-Rating.
