HIQA inspection of Arus Breffni Nursing Unit in Manorhamilton finds high standards of care and no use of restrictive practices, according to the HSE.
Arus Breffni Nursing home in Manorhamilton received positive feedback following a recent HIQA inspection carried out in January.
The single-story facility provides residential care for older residents and can accommodate 25 people in a combination of single and twin occupancy rooms.
The results of the unannounced inspection, published on March 27th, 2025, focused on monitoring the use of restrictive practices. The report found the centre to be fully compliant with regulations, emphasizing a culture that prioritises reducing or eliminating restrictive practices.
According to the HSE, residents reported feeling content with the care and freedom provided to them.
The centre, which completed an extensive refurbishment in 2021, is described as clean, bright, and welcoming. The design allows residents to move freely throughout the building, and staff were observed assisting in a respectful, unhurried manner, ensuring care aligned with residents’ preferences.
Frank Morrison, Head of Service for Older Persons at HSE Community Services in the region, reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards in older persons' residential services.
“We will continue to work with HIQA to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in all designated Older Persons residential services,” Said Frank Morrison, Head of Service, Older Persons, HSE Community Services Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo.
