Nine new acts announced for festival near leitrim

The Night and Day Festival is bringing a weekend of music to Leitrim from June 27th to 29th, set against the stunning backdrop of Lough Key Forest Park. The festival, known for its mix of folk, country, and roots music, will feature a variety of new acts alongside previously announced performers June Carousel and Dotts O'Connor.

Joining the lineup are David Hope, Molly O'Mahony, Alannah Thornburg, Moon Looks On, No Oil Paintings, Barceló Brothers, David Murphy, Sarah Buckley, and Eoin Jordan.

David Hope, a singer-songwriter from Co. Clare, has built a reputation for his raw blend of folk, blues, and soul. He’ll be curating the Electric Cave stage, which offers a more relaxed atmosphere for festival-goers. Hope's latest album, …and the Sea, came out in 2022, and he’s known for his powerful live performances.

Molly O'Mahony, who gained attention with her debut album The House of David, will also perform. Her album was named ‘Album of the Week’ on RTÉ 1 and was nominated for Best Debut Album at the 2023 Hotpress Awards.

Alannah Thornburg, a harpist from Co. Mayo, brings a mix of traditional Irish and American folk music. Her debut album, Shapeshifter, explores themes of Irish folklore and has earned praise for its fluid, contemporary sound.

Stephen Gormley, under the name Moon Looks On, has performed at major festivals like Glastonbury and Electric Picnic. His latest work is gaining attention for its distinctive style and energy.

Other new acts include No Oil Paintings, a Belfast-based Americana band, and the Barceló Brothers, who combine their Mediterranean and Irish roots to create a fusion of Zydeco, blues, and reggae. Eoin Jordan, a multi-instrumentalist from Cork, will also take the stage, bringing his folk influences and original songs to the festival.

Sarah Buckley, an alt-folk artist from Co. Cork, has been getting attention for her introspective lyrics and unique sound. David Murphy, known for his work with pedal steel guitar, will showcase his style that spans Americana, folk, and experimental music.

Festival Director Brendan Hurley emphasized that the Electric Cave Stage will provide a more laid-back vibe for those looking to escape the usual festival pace and enjoy some great music in a beautiful setting.

Along with the music, attendees can explore the grounds of Lough Key Forest Park, with activities like zip-lining, forest trails, and a tree-top walk.

The festival is open to those over 20, but families are welcome, and children’s tickets are available for just €2. Weekend camping tickets are priced at €185, with day tickets available for Friday (€55), Saturday (€88), and Sunday (€88).
