Today, An Garda Síochána in Leitrim issued a text alert to the entire county, urging the public to be cautious of traders offering services at the doorstep.
These traders, who offer jobs such as painting and power washing, are known to use high-pressure tactics to convince homeowners to allow them to complete work around the house, according to Gardaí.
An Garda Síochána has advised homeowners to use trusted service providers they know, avoid opening the door to unknown traders, use a chain lock on the door, and always ask for ID.
“If in doubt, keep them out,” the Garda text alert stated.
