A young Leitrim talent stole the spotlight at the prestigious Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) Awards on Saturday night, held at the INEC in Killarney.
Elena Greene, aged just 9 and from Carrick-on-Shannon, was named winner of the Best Youth Performance for her standout portrayal of Brigitta von Trapp in The Sound of Music. The award-winning production was staged by Boyle Musical Society, marking Elena’s debut with the group.
“This was Elena's first role with the Boyle Musical Society, where she played the part of Brigitta von Trapp brilliantly,” the society said.
Elena is a student of the Carrick Academy of Speech and Drama, which is run by her mother, Lorna Pia Greene, LRIAM (Royal Irish Academy of Music).
The AIMS Awards celebrate excellence in musical theatre across Ireland, with Elena’s win earning her national recognition among the best in youth performance.
A huge congratulations to Elena on this remarkable achievement—and here’s to a bright future on stage for this rising star from Leitrim.
