A number of areas of Leitrim have been without water supply overnight and will remain without water until Friday evening, it has been confirmed.
Uisce Éireann is working to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses supplied by the North Leitrim Regional Water Supply Scheme following a burst water main on the scheme on Thursday evening.
As a result of the burst, customers in Sweetwood Upper, Corrasra, Killargue, Drumduffy, Drumkeerin and surrounding areas, and those supplied by Ballinagleragh Group Water Scheme in Leitrim & Dowra Public Water Supply in Cavan may be experiencing disruptions to their supply.
"Repairs are complex due to the nature of the burst and are expected to be completed by 5pm on Friday," an Uisce Éireann spokesperson said.
Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
