A decision is due to be revealed over the weekend on an application for a tourism and community hub in Leitrim Village.
The application for the site, which is situated on the main street of the village, was submitted in December of last year by The Leitrim Village Development Committee.
The existing semi-detached dwelling located at Tullylannan, Leitrim Village ( N41 R3W9), is intended to receive a change of use and be turned into a community centre and tourism hub, which would include a public tourism information office to support the industry in the town.
The application also included the erection of a storey extension to the rear of the building for use as part of the tourism office.
The development would include an open plan public meeting room in the building, a kitchen space, dining area and bathrooms at ground floor.
The project also includes the development of four ensuite double bedrooms on the first floor, which would be able to provide short stay tourism accommodation.
The site works would include the creation of a car park to the rear of the building, with access available off the private roadway leading to the Leitrim Marina apartment and hotel development. This would also involve a modification to the landscaped area/footpath along the roadway.
The site is aimed at facilitating events and includes the provision of an external open courtyard that would cater to local community events.
The project would include the demolition of two existing sheds to the rear of the proposed accommodation and retaining one existing shed to be used for storage purposes.
Meanwhile, there would also need to be work carried out to upgrade all existing public service connections and all ancillary site development works.
A decision of the application is due to be rendered by the 23rd of April.
A request for further information was made on the 11th of February this year.
