Ballinamore Tourism and Angling Association will officially open its new Tourist Centre at High St, Ballinamore this Friday August 5 at 3.30pm.
The centre provides information for visitors to explore the delights of Ballinamore and surrounding areas.
After much planning and consultation with the HSE, the premises of the former health clinic was acquired and has been transformed into an excellent new facility with general tourist information as well as specific material regarding angling and walking. Ballinamore is well known for its many walking and hiking trails as well as a hot of angling lakes.
There are ambitious plans to develop this centre as a hub for angling in the region in the future.
On the literary side, Ballinamore is justifiably proud of its literary legend John Mc Gahern.
The new tourist centre also includes a section dedicated to his work. A passage from Mc Gahern will be read at the official opening on Friday by Ballinamore's local Listowel prizewinning writer, Angela Mc Cabe.
It is anticipated that this centre will be of great benefit to the entire region. The official opening comes two days before the start of Ballinamore Family Festival .
