Luigi Forte, 19 New Street Gardens, Dublin 8 was sent forward for trial at the January sitting of Roscommon Circuit Court when he appeared before Carrick-on-Shannon District Court on Friday last.
A book of evidence was served on Mr Forte who is charged with causing the death of Dillon Byrne by dangerous driving at Ardcarne, Boyle on February 9, 2016.
Gda James McCann outlined the State’s reasons for objecting to bail.
Defending solicitor Martin Burke said the defendant was happy to give an undertaking to reside at his mother’s house.
Judge Kevin P Kilrane refused the application for bail and remanded the defendant in custody to appear before Roscommon Circuit Court on January 30. Legal aid was granted to Martin Burke and two counsel.
