DJ Frankie Beats (aka Frankie Shanley) from Boyle, Co. Roscommon will be announced this Thursday, 31st May as the Winner of “Best Radio Show in the World” on the Mixcloud Radio Awards 2018 (Pop Category).
In a first for the awards, Frankie has also been selected as “Best Radio Show in the World” by the LISTENERS award too following voting that was open for the last four weeks.
Frankie’s “Breaking” Show (sponsored by RODE Microphones in Australia) was shortlisted to the last 5 in early May, beating the big guns like BBC Radio 1, Sirius XM and more before being selected by the 20 industry judges to get the accolade of best in the world. Previous nominees over the years that didn’t win include Aviici, Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyke, Chicane, John Digweed and more.
His show aired once a week and had a listenership of over 400,000 people in 81 countries and was one of the first to play New Music before Apple, Spotify and most other stations and came live form locations in Ireland, Greece & Portugal.
In the last few months Apple Beats1 DJ Zane Lowe has been following Frankie on Twitter and showing his support to Frankie and his Breaking Music Show.
This year was a first for the MORA awards as the competition was open to all stations that broadcast online or have an app and not just shows uploaded to the Mixcloud Platform.
Frankie (41) has been DJing for the last 25 years and is currently a daytime presenter on KISSFM Portugal and his show airs Monday-Friday 12pm-4pm.
“I’m so honoured to be picked by the judges and the listeners and have worked hard for the last 6 years to get to where I am today,” said Frankie.
Frankie has openly spoken of his battle in the past with depression that lead him down a different path before he decided to focus again on his music.
