Council purchase family home for social housing in Dromahair

Dromahair village

Leitrim County Council has purchased a 3-bedroom detached home in Dromahair and is carrying out repairs to bring it into use.
The news came following a query by Cllr Frank Dolan, who highlighted the lack of large properties for Council use in the village.
He asked the Council to look at acquiring further family-sized properties in the area.
He pointed out one estate in particular where a home has been repossessed and other residents are anxious to see it occupied .
Director of Service, Mary Quinn, said the Council will look at available properties in the area. “The Council scans the market on an ongoing basis for suitable properties that are in line with the cost guidelines supported by the Dept of Housing, Planning and Local Government, meet housing demand, and are within the town environment of Dromahair,” she told Cllr Dolan.
