Rooskey - Dromod road re-open
Gardai are appealing for local help in relation to the second arson attack in Rooskey which occurred Monday night.
The Rooskey-Dromod road re-opened this afternoon, after Garda Forensics completed an extensive search and sweep of the hotel and its surrounds.
Superintendent Kevin English said “A fire was started and quickly detected by on site security at approx 9.15pm” on Monday night. Mohill and Strokestown Fire Services attended but the fire was quickly extinguished and there was “minimal damage to a bedroom and reception area.” There were two security personnel and a foreman on the premises but “no body was injured.” There is evidence of a break-in at a patio window.
The superintendent said this is an independent investigation and at this time is not being linked with previous arson attack.
Supt English is appealing for any local knowledge or witnesses to suspicious activity on the old Rooskey road or towards VistaMed from 7.30- 9.45pm on Monday night, February 11 to contact Carrick-on-Shannon Gardai on :(071) 9650510 or the Garda Confidential Line: 1800 666111.
