Leitrim people don't want contactless church collections
Catholic masses look set to take a big step into the 21st century by introducing contactless card machines at a number of churches, but the readers of the Leitrim Observer are not in favour of the move.
In response to a trial by some Dublin churches to have a contactless card machine instead of conventional collection, we asked our readers would they agree with the same arrangement in Leitrim.
The majority of our readers voted no and instead would like to continue with the envelope/ collection service as it stands.
As well as offerings, the new trial machines will allow people to sign up for recurring payments, or pay for local pilgrimage trips.
