Deadline fast approaching to nominate your Leitrim Mens and Ladies Club Teams of the Year

Closing date for nominations to make the top three shortlist is Friday, December 16, at 5pm - voting by nomination forms or email

Nominate your Leitrim Mens and Ladies Club Teams of the Year

Time is running out if you want to nominate your choices to make the final selection for the Leitrim Observer Mens and Ladies Club Teams of the Year for 2022.

Nominations close at 5 pm this Friday, December 16, for the Mens and Ladies Club Team of the Year before a final list of three names in each position goes before the public to decide on who makes the final selection.

2022 saw St Mary’s Kiltoghert shock favourites Mohill to lift their first Fenagh Cup since 2013 while Glencar Manorhamilton stormed to an epic three-in-a-row when they saw off Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins in a tight final. Kiltubrid won the Ladies Senior B title and St Mary’s picked up the Junior crown while there were celebrations for Aughnasheelin and Carrigallen after they won the Men’s Intermediate & Junior titles.

There were a host of superb performances throughout the club championships with Keith Beirne, Pearce Dolan, Mark Diffley, David Bruen, Ryan O'Rourke, Jordan Reynolds, Paul Keaney and Nicholas McWeeney among some of the nominations we have already received.

On the Ladies side, the names of Muireann Devaney, Michelle Guckian, Enya McWeeney, Roisin McHugh, Emma Guckian, Mary Alice Maguire, Elise Bruen, Megan McGovern, Caroline Doherty, Eimear Feely and Leah Fox are popping up regularly.

The format for the selection of the Leitrim Club Teams of the Year will see readers nominate their team via the accompanying coupon which will also be available to download from our website www.leitrimobserver.ie

Based on the nominations received, a shortlist of three players for each of the 15 positions on both Leitrim Observer Club Teams of the Year which will be revealed in the Leitrim Observer on Wednesday, December 21, and also online.

Fans can then vote in our online poll for who they consider should be the player selected in each of the 15 positions on the Mens and Ladies teams. 

The winner in each position will be the player that receives the most votes. 

The identity of Leitrim Club Teams of the Year will be unveiled in the Leitrim Observer on Wednesday, January 11. 

Any player that lined out in the 2022 Club Championship for their Club’s Mens or Ladies team at any level (Senior, Intermediate or Junior) is eligible for nomination so now it is over to you, our Leitrim Club Teams of the Year selectors! 

Completed nomination forms are to be returned by post to Leitrim Observer Club Teams of the Year, Leitrim Observer, Unit 7, The Courtyard, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim or by email to sport@leitrimobserver.ie with “Leitrim Observer Club Teams of the Year” in the subject line. 

The closing date for nominations is Friday, December 16, at 5pm.
