Cllr Thomas Mulligan asked that due to the "very considerable waiting period for driving tests, that the council call on the department responsible to set about reducing waiting times as many people have invested heavily in time and money for lessons in order to allow them to take up jobs.""Some people, particularly students, have been offered jobs for the summer if they have their driving test passed," he told the council meeting in Kinlough and said they cannot take up those jobs because they haven't done the test.Cllr Mary Bohan seconded the motion.
