Four new apartments coming to north Leitrim town

Construction has begun on Main Street in Kinlough for a small apartment complex.

The street-fronted house facing Main Street has been demolished, and work is now underway.

The project is being carried out by CCH Construction Limited, following a planning application submitted in May 2024 and approved by Leitrim County Council in July.

The development will include four one-bedroom apartments with parking spaces, an entrance onto the public road, and connections to existing public services.

As part of the project, the footpath has also been widened. The demolition was outlined in the County Development Plan.

Leitrim charity concert to benefit Alzheimer Society and North West Hospice

Participants of the Drumshanbo Traditional Irish Music Course will be holding their annual charity concert at The Mayflower in Drumshanbo on Friday, March 7 from 8pm to 10:30pm.

Works will be restricted to the hours of 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.

Kinlough has seen significant growth over the past 25 years, with its population rising from just over 280 to more than 1,200, making it one of the county’s largest towns.

Kinlough councillor Justin Warnock, who previously owned the demolished property, welcomed the construction of new apartments for the town.

“I was sorry to see it go as it was part of family history, but Kinlough’s future development cannot be hindered,” he said.
