Local writer Joe McGowan performed the official opening of Tullaghan's first outdoor community library last weekend.
Joe also generously donated some history books of the area, including some he had written himself, to the new library.
The outdoor community library has capacity for approximately 100 books and works on a Take One Leave One (TOLO) basis.
In essence the TOLO library system works as a free book swapping box.
This idea has been used worldwide to help inspire a love of reading and community.
Both the books and outdoor community library are funded by Leitrim County Council and the unit holds a good selection of books aimed at everyone from the smallest children to teenagers and adults.
The best way to show your appreciation for this new facility is to use it and the Tullaghan Development Association is hoping word will quickly spread about the new library.
The local Development Association says they hope this new facility will help to build a community of book lovers in this beautiful village by the sea.
