Sligo-Leitrim Garda catch motorist traveling 20km over the speed limit during operation over the bank holiday weekend.
The incident occurred on the N4 just outside Carrick-on-Shannon, with a driver travelling at 82km/h in a 60km/h zone on Sunday the 25th.
An Garda Síochána have launched a four-day road policing operation over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Four days into the operation, there have been two fatalities as a result of two fatal collisions on our roads, which brings the total number of fatalities on Irish roads to date this year is 153.
Throughout this weekend's Roads Policing operation, Gardaí are conducting both statutory Mandatory Intoxicant Testing checkpoints and regular, high-visibility policing checkpoints.
Just over 3,490 drivers were detected for speeding offences during the first four days of the operation; meanwhile, a total of 146 people were arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant (alcohol and drugs).
The operation will continue until Tuesday, with An Garda Síochána and the Road Safety Authority urging road users to support their efforts to keep people safe on the roads this October bank holiday weekend.
