Teresa Doherty in Glasgow
Kinlough's Teresa Doherty won gold at the British and Irish Masters Cross Country Championships on Saturday, winning the W45 race in Glasgow while Carrick-on-Shannon AC's Michelle Lannon finished eighth in the W50 race.
Running for Donegal club Finn Valley AC, Teresa was the leading W45 to take an impressive win at Tolcross Park in Glasgow. Doherty took the race by the horns at the outset and was a strong winner in a little over 21 minutes. Back in 2018, the Kinlough woman was the W40 winner at the same Championships in Swansea.
On Saturday, Doherty won from Letterkenny AC’s Natasha Adams with the Irish team taking the team golds.
Carrick AC's Michelle Lannon finished eighth in the W50 race in a time of 23.55, second Irish finisher on the day with teammate Breda Gaffney finishing fourth and Karen Lavelle 14th as Ireland finished fourth in the team race behind England, Northern Ireland and Scotland with just three points between Michelle's team and the silver medals.
