Double Olympian Eddie Leddy will be honoured at this year's Leitrim Sports Partnership Awards after it has been announced that the legendary athlete will receive the Hall of Fame Award at this year's thirteenth annual Leitrim Sports Star Awards.
Leddy, who competed in the 1972 Munich and 1976 Montreal Olympic Games and set numerous Irish records during a legendary career, will receive his award at a special awards evening in The Landmark Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday, February 8.
With nominations for the various 2024 Leitrim Sports Star Awards, there is sure to be enormous interest after an incredible year of success for the county's sporting heroes in ladies and men's sports, both team and individual.
A native of Drumreilly and now Tennessee based, Eddie will join former winners such as fellow Olympian Frances Cryan, Leitrim 1994 Connacht SFC winning captain Declan Darcy and the legendary Packie McGarty. Uniquely, Eddie will join his former coach Padraig Griffin in the Leitrim Sports Star Hall of Fame.
