The next few weeks are busy but exciting times for Leitrim Darts players and committees, starting with our awards night next Sunday in the Barrel Store in Carrick-on Shannon at which youths & Senior player of the year plus Hall of fame awards will be presented.
These awards are chosen by fellow players and this will be followed by a Leitrim A v B challenge.
Up next, we have the big one: the West Coast Challenge! This event will bring 500 plus competitors plus supporters to the County town. Starting with the doubles on Friday January 17, on Saturday we have the team event for youths ladies & men, finishing off with the singles on Sunday with a minimum prize fund of €1000.
Good luck to all taking part, a huge amount of work has gone into the organisation of this event so I would hope that all local league players outside of the A & B panels would play in the doubles on Friday night and the singles on Sunday.
Leitrim Darts would like to take this opportunity to thank our host and sponsor The Landmark Hotel plus all our board & raffle sponsors. We hope everyone will have an enjoyable experience even if you only have a passing interest in Darts why not call in over the weekend.
EDDIE LEDDY JOINS LEITRIM SPORTS STAR HALL OF FAME AWARDS
Next Tuesday is the last qualifying heat for the Modus 10 Vault finals in The Barrel Store which also hosts the national finals on January 26. Unfortunately for Raymond Mulvey, this clashes with the Leitrim player gaining his third International cap in the Islands International that same weekend in Jersey.
The pride of representing his country taking precedence over the national finals on this occasion, very disappointing for the player and his local fans especially as they are being held in his home town. We wish Raymond & the Irish team the best of luck defending their title in Jersey.
A big shout-out to the Leitrim youths team taking part for the very first time and their mentor Graham McDermott.
