Arigna swimmer Cormac Rynn set a new personal best for Ireland at the European Swimming Championships in Poland yesterday.
Rynn, who previously swam with Trident Swimming Club in Carrick-on-Shannon before beginning his university studies in Bio-science in Limerick, was competing in the 400m Freestyle heats and set a new time of 3:44.50. The time placed him 32nd overall across all the heats.
The 19-year-old Arigna swimmer is part of Ireland’s European Championships team competing in Lublin, Poland, between the 2nd and 7th of December.
The Freestyle race was a successful one for the Irish, with Daniel Wiffen returning to racing and placing as the top seed heading into the final, which will take place at 18:09 Irish time. Meanwhile, teammate Denis O’Brien was also in action, clocking a best time of 3:52.91.
Rynn made his debut for Ireland at the European Championships last year before joining a 12-person squad that travelled to Singapore this summer. He also competed in the European U23 Championship in June.
