Cllr Finola Armstrong McGuire has welcomed a funding allocation of €103,100 for a major upgrade of angling facilities on the Elphin Road, Carrick-on-Shannon.
This Inland Fisheries project will see the upgrade of existing mudflats at this angling location to allow for the provision of floating fish-stands. The funding will also go towards the upgrade of toilets, roadway, car-park, signage and fencing.
“The ongoing need to develop and enhance our tourism product locally cannot be underestimated. This significant funding recognises the importance of the Carrick-on-Shannon area as a popular location for anglers from all over the world. Increasing our visitor footfall can only mean good news for our local economy," said Cllr Armstrong-McGuire
