The Irish Cancer Society’s 27th Daffodil Day, took place on Friday 28 March 28 with people from all over Leitrim involved in selling daffodils, organising events, getting their work place involved or donating online.

The Irish Cancer Society’s 27th Daffodil Day, took place on Friday 28 March 28 with people from all over Leitrim involved in selling daffodils, organising events, getting their work place involved or donating online.

People went above and beyond, fundraising for Daffodil Day 2014 and the Society wish to thank and commend the communities in Leitrim who supported our campaign.

The Society’s target for Daffodil Day 2014 was €3.45 million. Money is steadily coming in from around the country and the Society is thrilled to say that they are well on the way to reaching their ambitious target.

Despite last year’s dreadful weather €3 million was raised for Daffodil Day, with a ‘whopping’ €14,666 of this coming from the people in Leitrim. Below are just some of the services the Irish Cancer Society provides in Leitrim: specialist cancer nurses supported 17,469 callers to our National Cancer Helpline (Freefone 1800 200 700), 18 of these calls were from people in Leitrim in 2013; 7,770 nights of care to 1,868 families were, 44 nights of care were provided in Leitrim in 2013; €6,950 worth of financial aid was provided to people in Leitrim in 2013 and 180 booklets and factsheets were sent to people in Leitrim.
