It has been confirmed that no road works will be carried out on the laneway leading to the reservoir in Drumreilly, Ballinamore Municipal District has heard.

Cllr Paddy O’Rourke requested patching on the L5489, L55220 and the adjoining laneway leading to the reservoir.

However, district engineer Darragh O’Boyle informed him that the road leading to the reservoir is private, meaning the Council cannot carry out works on it.

Cllr O’Rourke asked whether Uisce Éireann would need to contribute to the works, to which he was told that Uisce Éireann would have to fully fund the project before the Council could proceed with any repairs.

A response from the Roads department stated, “We will dispatch our maintenance crew to the L-5489 and the L-55220. We will not be carrying out patching on private roads to reservoirs.”
