Mac Oisin Place, Dromod
Dromod village could see the development of 19 new homes, pending planning approval.
An application was submitted to Leitrim County Council on March 6, proposing the construction of a total of 19 residential units at Mac Oisin Place, Drumod Beg.
The proposed development includes eight three-bedroom, two-storey, semi detached houses; ten four-bedroom two-storey semi detached houses; and one four-bedroom, single storey, detached house.
The proposal also includes a new site entrance off the existing estate road, along with car parking, landscaping, connections to all public services and other ancillary works.
Leitrim has the lowest rate of new house construction in Ireland by a significant margin.
According to data from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, just 101 homes were commenced in the county last year, the lowest nationwide, followed by Carlow (213) and Longford (248).
Submissions on the proposed development in Dromod are open to the public until April 9.
Leitrim County Council is expected to issue a decision by April 30.
