Uisce Éireann customers in Drumsna are benefitting from a more secure and reliable water supply following the recent completion of important upgrade works in the village.
More than 500 metres of old concrete water mains along the village’s Main Street have been replaced with new modern pipes as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.
The works have ensured that customers have a more reliable water supply and have also put a stop to the loss of precious treated water into the ground.
Uisce Éireann’s Patricia Lowry is grateful to the community for their patience while Farrans Construction carried out the replacement works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
“This essential work is part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network across the country, prioritising investment where it is needed most, enabling these communities to thrive.
!We would like to thank customers in Drumsna for their cooperation and patience while the works took place,” she added.
This project in Drumsna forms part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme and will help us achieve our 2030 goal of a national leakage rate of 25 percent. The National Leakage Reduction team has made great strides since 2018 when the leakage rate stood at 46 percent.
Since 2018, Uisce Éireann has invested more than €500 million to upgrade the underground water network across the country through the delivery of the national Leakage Reduction Programme. We are investing a further €250 million every year up to the end of 2030 - fixing leaks and replacing pipes to provide a more reliable water supply. For more information, click here.
