MET Éireann has issued a yellow advisory for potato blight, warning growers in Leitrim and across the country to remain on high alert as conditions favour the spread of the disease.
The warning that was in effect across the entire country was issued at 14:55 on Tuesday, May 27, and will remain in effect until 13:00 on Friday, May 30.
According to the advisory, conditions are currently conducive to the development and spread of Phytophthora infestans, the pathogen responsible for late blight in potatoes.

The risk of blight in Leitrim is low however, Farmers are urged to monitor crops closely and take preventive measures where necessary.
