Owners announce expansion, bringing 140 jobs to Leitrim hotel on schedule

The Hanly Castle Group has confirmed that major expansion works are continuing on schedule at Lough Rynn Castle Estate & Gardens, with 51 new bedrooms set to be added to the well-known Mohill hotel.

The development, which will bring the total number of rooms on the estate to 95, is designed to meet increasing demand from visitors to the area, including both corporate and leisure guests.

“We are pleased to confirm that construction is progressing on schedule, with our new restaurant due for completion in December 2025, followed by the launch of the first phase of 23 additional guest rooms and suites on May 1, 2026,” said Eoin O Sullivan, general manager.

Plans also include a Wellness Centre featuring indoor and outdoor pools, a new entrance and lobby, lounges, glazed walkways, and a library bar.

The project is expected to create around 140 new jobs and will coincide with the refurbishment of the hotel’s existing bedrooms and suites.

The Hanly Castle Group has also pledged to restore the historical outbuildings on the estate. Work is ongoing on the restoration of the walled gardens, using sustainable techniques and organic soil produced on site.

The expansion represents one of the largest hospitality developments in the county in recent years and is expected to bring significant employment and tourism benefits to the wider area.
