One of Leitrim’s most tranquil spots for relaxation and escaping the hustle and bustle is seeking planning permission for a fresh round of upgrades.
Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway in Leitrim Village has submitted a planning application to Leitrim County Council, outlining several proposed enhancements to the popular retreat.
The proposal includes the construction of 12 one-bedroom chalets, replacing the seven three-bedroom chalets previously approved under an earlier planning application.
In addition, the application outlines plans for a new sports facility, featuring the construction of two padel courts.

An overflow car park with 33 spaces is also proposed, to be located behind the existing main car park. A ground-mounted solar panel system, comprising a 100 kW photovoltaic array, is also included in the plans.
The application further proposes the tarmac surfacing of the road L7379 leading to the rear exit, as well as the construction of a new road linking the main car park to an existing road that provides access to the rear entrance of the site.
As of June 19, the application remains incomplete, and no timeline has been provided by the Council for a decision date.
Earlier this year, in February, Drumhierny Hideaway Lodge also submitted a separate planning application for a number of changes, including converting Drumhierny Lodge into a bar and restaurant, adding a two-storey extension, and the addition of a single-storey glass Orangery on the east side, complete with a rooftop terrace.
