Leitrim County Council has granted planning permission for a new 19-unit residential development at Mac Oisin Place in Dromod, Co. Leitrim. The approved plans include a mix of three- and four-bedroom homes, along with supporting infrastructure such as parking, landscaping, and connections to public services.
The development will consist of 8 two-storey, semi-detached 3-bedroom houses, 10 two-storey, semi-detached 4-bedroom houses, and 1 single-storey, detached 4-bedroom house.
Access will be via a new site entrance off the existing estate road at Drumod Beg, with 19 conditions attached to the planning approval.

Developer Tom Crosby, who also serves as a councillor on Roscommon County Council, spoke to the Leitrim Observer about the plans. “It’s in the very nice and beautiful award-winning village on the River Shannon — Dromod Village,” he said. “It’s just nearly in the centre, just at the rear of the village, in a small development called Mac Oisin Place.”
Crosby was also behind the Tarmon Harbour development during the 2000s, emphasized that the new project will use modern construction methods to meet energy efficiency standards.
“I’m moving over to the new ICF system,” he said, referring to Insulated Concrete Formwork. “While it has a concrete centre, the outliers are made of dense insulation material. It allows one to achieve very high ratings — A1 ratings — in the BER certificate, which in turn would allow for the green mortgage, which has a lower interest rate and is very attractive now for purchasers.”

The project represents an investment of between €4 and €5 million in the local area, he says. Crosby believes that it will generate “quite a number of jobs” during construction and hopes to break ground in the coming months.
“If all goes well,” he said, “I hope to have completion within about 18 months.”
