Good news for parents as new bus service for Leitrim primary school confirmed

A new school bus service has been confirmed from Dromod to Annaduff National School for the incoming school year, starting in September.

While there was once a bus service operating on this route, there hasn’t been one in recent years, so the re-establishment of the service is welcome news for the many families who send their children to school in nearby Annaduff.

Up until now, only one Bus Éireann school bus serviced the school, operating from the Drumsna side of the parish.

Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District Councillor Maeve Reynolds has welcomed the news of the new service for the upcoming term, noting that this time of year is often met with disappointment for families who miss out on concessionary tickets for their children.

“I’m especially pleased that this year we have a genuine good news story,” said Cllr Reynolds.

“The new service will be hugely beneficial to both local families and the school, making the school run easier and more accessible for many.”

“I would like to extend a sincere thank you to Bus Éireann, all those in the school transport section, the bus inspector, the school principal, the parents who applied for the service, and everyone whose efforts were essential in making this possible,” added Cllr Reynolds.

Parents are reminded that those who have already applied for their child to be included on the bus route should ensure their payment is completed.

Those who have not yet applied but wish to do so can apply through the Bus Éireann online portal here.

Tickets for the upcoming school year have begun distribution to customers and will continue to be issued throughout the month of August.
