Laura Magan, who went through Breast Cancer diagnoses from 2017 – December 2018, was diagnosed just three months later with Cervical Cancer Stage III

Momentum is hosting a coffee morning with inspiring guest speakers at its office in Leitrim Village on September 24, from 11 am to 12.30 pm. Each year, 3,600 new cases of Breast Cancer are diagnosed in Ireland. This event aims to show solidarity with not just the women in the community who have experienced breast cancer, but with their families and friends. Anyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer or who would like to support this fundraising event, is invited to attend.

For the Momentum team, Breast Cancer is a cause close to their heart as team member Laura Magan, who went through Breast Cancer diagnoses from 2017 – December 2018, was diagnosed just three months later with Cervical Cancer Stage III (March 2019). She had to wait five years for her remission period (until July 2024) so that her doctors could deem her cancer-free. Another Momentum staff recently lost a family member to breast cancer and is keen to highlight the importance of early detection and intervention.

Laura will share her experience and cancer journey at the event and will be joined by Bridget Kerrigan, General Manager of the Sligo Cancer Support Centre, who will discuss the vital support available for anyone affected by cancer. Bridget leads a compassionate team that offers one-to-one support, counselling, holistic therapies and workshops in a welcoming and peaceful environment in the North West, including Sligo, Leitrim, Carrick-on-Shannon and patients from Letterkenny Hospital and surrounding areas. She believes no one should face cancer alone and is passionate about helping people and their families find strength, comfort and a renewed sense of hope.

Admission to the event is free, and attendees are invited to wear something pink. It will be possible to make a digital donation directly to the Breast Cancer Ireland fundraising page through QR codes that will be displayed at the event.

Breast Cancer Ireland is a registered charity, established to raise significant funding to support pioneering research programmes nationally, as well as to promote education and awareness on the importance of good breast health amongst women of all ages.
