Samhain at Leitrim Organic Centre returns next week

Family-friendly event in Rossinver celebrates Irish traditions, crafts, music and the spirit of Samhain.

Samhain at Leitrim Organic Centre returns next week

The much-loved “Samhain at the Organic Centre” event returns next Monday, October 27th, from 12–4pm in Rossinver, and promises an afternoon filled with heritage, fun, and community spirit.

Families can once again enjoy the popular Halloween Trail, where children hunt for spooky cats hidden around the centre’s grounds — with a few eerie surprises waiting along the way.

This year’s celebration also offers visitors the chance to reconnect with Ireland’s Samhain traditions. The inspirational Jim Ledwith from the Mummers Foundation will be joined by talented craftswoman Steffi Otto of Heritage Crafts Alive to share stories and demonstrate traditional crafts. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet the mystical white mare and learn about the history of the mummers’ straw costumes.

Entertainment will feature music from the Clearys and Mary T, as well as dance performances by Siobhán Butler (Bánóg Irish Dance). Families can also take part in sustainable crafts with Steve and Seb, while enjoying seasonal food favourites such as colcannon, barmbrack, and festive treats served at the Grass Roof Café by Lilly Conlon, formerly of Caife Bia Sláinte.

In the spirit of sustainability, the Organic Centre’s Halloween Costume Swap Shop will once again be running throughout the season, encouraging everyone to reuse, reduce, and recycle.

Dervilla Keegan, Communications Officer at the Organic Centre, says the event captures the true essence of the season:

“Leitrim is really becoming a place to spend the Halloween period for an authentic Irish experience. Our Samhain celebration, set against the autumnal backdrop of the Organic Centre, is something special. It gives families and friends the chance to come together and reflect on how we celebrated in the past — through humble traditions, food, and togetherness. And last but not least, our Halloween Trail is always a huge hit with families.”
