Cormac Rynn, from Arigna, has been selected to represent Ireland at the European Championships this December in Poland.
The 19-year-old swam with the Trident Swimming Club in Carrick-on-Shannon before beginning his university studies in Bio-Science in Limerick. Over the past two years, he has competed out of the National Swim Centre in Limerick.
Last year, Rynn made his debut for Ireland at the European Championships and later joined a 12-person squad that travelled to Singapore this summer. He also competed in the European U23 Championship in June.
The Roscommon native has enjoyed a rapid rise in Irish swimming over the past year, winning his first Irish title at the Irish Open Championships and Olympic Trials in the 400m freestyle, setting a new Irish junior record with a time of 3:54.06.

Rynn will join Olympic champion Daniel Wiffen and Olympic finalist Ellen Walshe on the 13-person team. He will also be joined by fellow National Swim Centre Limerick teammates and 2025 World Championship qualifiers Jack Cassin and Eoin Corby.
Sligo native and Olympic bronze medallist Mona McSharry, who matched her Irish record to win World Cup gold in the 50m Breaststroke earlier this week, has opted not to travel.
