Deputy Frank Feighan
Sligo-Leitrim TD Frank Feighan has been appointed as a Minister of State as part of a Cabinet reshuffle announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Deputy Feighan will take on the role of Minister of State with Responsibility for Public Procurement, Digitisation and E-Government.
The appointment follows Paschal Donohoe’s shock decision to step down from his role as Minister for Finance.
Tánaiste Simon Harris said the appointment of Deputy Feighan was “in recognition of his long service and significant experience in the Oireachtas.”
The Tánaiste continued: “He will work there to lead the agenda on better procurement of public contracts and advancing the Government’s digital agenda.

“I know Frank will bring to this role his many years of experience as both a member of Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann.”
Donohoe’s resignation has triggered a reshuffle of Cabinet, with Harris nominating himself to become Minister for Finance.
The move will see Helen McEntee take over the job of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence.
Meanwhile, Minister of State Hildegarde Naughton will join the Cabinet and take over as Minister for Education.
The changes were announced by Taoiseach Micheál Martin in the Dáil on Tuesday afternoon.
Deputy Feighnan was first elected to the Dáil in the 2007 general election and served as Fine Gael Deputy Spokesperson on Transport and Education from 2007 to 2010.
In July 2010, he was appointed as party spokesperson on Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs.
He was re-elected in the 2011 general election but chose not to run for re-election four years later. However, Deputy Feighnan returned to politics and was elected again in 2020.
He was subsequently appointed Minister of State at the Department of Health with responsibility for Public Health, Well Being and the National Drugs Strategy.
Nevertheless, he was not re-appointed as a junior minister when the 33rd Government of Ireland was formed in December 2022.
Still, he was re-elected in 2024 and will now serve as a Minister of State again.
