Concerns were raised about lights being out in Council-owned housing estates in Leitrim, prompting worries about potential injuries in the winter season.
At a meeting of Manorhamilton Municipal District, Cllr Felim Gurn emphasised the need for a swift response from Electric Skyline to ensure the lights are repaired, “so that vulnerable people don’t slip going into their houses especially now in winter season.”
In response, the Housing Department explained that the public is encouraged to report faults via the public lighting management system called ‘Deadsure,’ accessible through the Council’s website under the ‘report a faulty street light’ tab.
Once a fault is reported, a notification is sent to Electric Skyline. Residents can also contact the main switchboard of Leitrim County Council, and Council staff will log the fault directly into the system.
The Housing Department added that reports are reviewed daily and teams are dispatched frequently, with reported faults typically fixed within a four- to six-week turnaround time.
