Mohill
Cllr Irene Guckian-Rabbitte asked the council to extend the double yellow lines on one side of Glebe Street, Mohill, Leitrim, near the junction with Main Street and leave parking on the other side of the street, to allow for the better flow of traffic.
She said that "the same could be applied to a section of Hyde Street, Mohill, from the junction with Main Street, again to create a better flow of traffic and safety."
She said there was a "pinch point" due to uneven buildings forcing cars to park out slightly into oncoming traffic. "You might think you're parked properly but the back end of the car is sticking out that little bit and when trucks are trying to pass through that's when the trouble starts; they are aiming to go between cars without hitting everything."
She said that an emergency service vehicle could struggle to navigate the road in it's current state.
Cllr Guckian-Rabbitte added: "Mohill is in need of more car parks."
Cllr Maeve Reynolds agreed that "Mohill needs more car parking and needs a car park and there are people are parking in different places in the town because there is nowhere else to park. There is a major need for a new car park."
She also ask if any more bollards are to be installed in the town adding "I know they are needed to keep vehicles off the footpath but more bollards will take away more parking."

Cllr Sean McGowan supported the motion saying: "Just after Carroll's, the next building juts out. There is a pinch point there. It's a one-way street which is a good thing in one sense. If something could be done to stop people parking there, it's maybe a ten metres or 20 metres long space, it needs to be looked at.
Cllr Enda Stenson said that residents on Hyde Street need to be consulted ahead of any works that take place on the street. "If you intend to do something, there needs to be discussions," he noted with Cllr Guckian-Rabbitte fully supporting this statement.
The response stated that the District Office will assess Glebe Street and Hyde Street to establish if the introduction of double yellow lines at this location is a suitable option from a traffic flow and road safety point of view.
Emma Donohoe, district engineer, added that bollards need to be installed "especially at crossing points".

Cllr Stenson said that "back lands" had previously been suggested as a location for a car park in Mohill on High Street.
Bernard Greene, senior Planner, said there is a project earmarked for next year to try and "open up some back lands of High Street in conjunction with identifying a site for a family resource centre, a permanent home for the scouts and hopefully open up some lands for housing."
