Showers across Leitrim with an icy turn in places due tonight

Showers during the day will recede with temperatures falling below zero during the night

Wintry weather dominates

The weather in Leitrim today will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle across the county, with temperatures dropping below zero tonight.

The chance of rain will decrease as the day goes on and give way to drier conditions in the evening.

The day will remain cold throughout, with highs of five degrees and lows of one, with the temperature dropping below zero after midnight, allowing for some patches of ice and frost to form.

Across Connacht, the weather will hold to the same pattern with showers falling, with a clearance slowly spreading from the west, with some sunny spells possible too. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, with light variable winds.

Tonight, across the province, mainly dry and cold conditions with clear spells. Some mist and fog patches will also develop in light variable winds. However, cloud will build from the south through the second half of the night with wet and windy conditions arriving in the province from the south towards morning. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees.
