Leitrim County Council has confirmed that it is actively seeking funding to address issues that have been affecting residents in a housing estate for a considerable period of time.
At the January meeting of Manorhamilton Municipal District, Cllr Pádraig Fallon proposed that the remaining footpaths at Sheena in Drumkeeran, where works have not yet been carried out, be included in the works programme.
“Ideally these works need to be carried out as soon as possible in the estate Numbers 1 to 12,” his motion stated.
He also noted that there are a number of decommissioned public lights that need to be removed, as well as the need for an additional light or the recommissioning of an existing one.
In response, the Roads Department confirmed that it is actively looking for funding to address the outstanding issues in Sheena, and that public lighting in the area will be reviewed.

“If successful we would hope to complete footpath works this year. We will also review the Public lighting and see if upgrades are necessary,” the response concluded.
