RIP: Tributes to much-loved 'mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend'

Sarah (Jo) Burton (née Connolly) passed away peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Portiuncula Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and predeceased by her loving husband Bill, sisters Phil and May and brother Hugh.

Tributes have poured in after the death of Sarah (Jo) Burton (née Connolly), Woodlands, Creagh, Ballinasloe, Galway / Rossinver, Leitrim, who passed away peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Portiuncula Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and predeceased by her loving husband Bill, sisters Phil and May and brother Hugh.

She will be sadly missed and forever loved by her sons Paul and Simon, grandchildren Keith, Alan, Rachel, Katie, Laura, Eve, Owen and Abbey, great grandchildren Lily, Iarla and Killian, nephew Justin, daughters-in-law Tracy and Sheila, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Tributes poured in for Jo with one posters saying: "Sorry to hear about the passing of Jo; fond memories of Jo and Bill living next door to us in Ard Mhuire; Jo was a great neighbour and enjoyed all the cups of tea and chats."

Funeral cortège arriving to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Creagh on Thursday 29th January for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Creagh Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations if desired to Cancer Care West.

Another comment said: "Jo was a wonderful neighbour, and we will never forget the kindness she always showed to us all."

The Burton family would like to take this opportunity to thank most sincerely the nurses, management and staff of the Orchard Ward, Portiuncula Hospital and Hillside Nursing Home, Aughrim.
