RIP: 'Very happy memories of the chats on our way to school' - Mohill lady remembered

Tributes have been paid after the passing of Colette McGuinness (née Casey), Drumboy, Mohill, Leitrim and formerly of Aghalustia, Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon.

Colette passed away peacefully on Sunday 1st February 2026 surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of the staff of Arus Carolan, Mohill, Co. Leitrim.

She is predeceased by her parents Michael and Annie Casey, her sisters Maura Ryan and brothers Larry, Seamus (Jim) and Oliver (Ollie).

Among the tributes was one from an old school friend: "Very happy memories of the chats on our way to school every morning, she was always so nice and down to earth. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Another said: "She was a very dear loving sister , sister in law and aunt and we will always cherish her kindness and the wonderful memories we shared."

Colette will be sadly missed by her devoted husband Stephen and children Micheál (Ari), Denis (Christine), Gráinne (Michael) and Patrick. Her grandchildren Isabella, Dylan, Milly, Ronan, Keelan and Rian. Her sisters-in-law Jane (Ballaghaderreen), Alice (London) and Margaret (London), her nieces and nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Removal to St Patrick’s Church Mohill on Friday the 6th of February 2026 to arrive for 7 o’clock. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday February 7th at 11am in St Patrick’s Church Mohill followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
