A number of motorists in the Sligo-Leitrim area were detected for various driving offences during a multi-agency checkpoint operation carried out in recent days.

The Sligo Leitrim Roads Policing Unit, alongside colleagues from the Road Safety Authority and Customs, conducted these multi-agency checkpoints.

It was confirmed in a statement on Facebook that as a result of the checkpoints, three drivers were arrested after failing drug tests, while three cars and a motorcycle were seized due to having no insurance or not being taxed for over a year.

Their statement on Facebook read, “Sligo Leitrim Roads Policing Unit conducted multiagency check points with our colleagues in the Road safety Authority and Customs on our National Roads.

“Three drivers were arrested after failing the Roadside Drug tests, three cars and a motorcycle were seized when found to be uninsured or not being taxed for over a year. The RSA and Customs also detected a number of offences.”
