Ballinamores Eco Warriors Conor McHugh and Martin Kiernan
Two Ballinamore "Eco Warriors", Conor McHugh and Martin Kiernan, have been collecting litter along the roads surrounding the Cherry Blossom Centre for the past two years, continuing "the amazing work carried out by service users from Rehab Care over the past twenty years in keeping Ballinamore clean and litter free", the Leitrim Observer has been informed.
A statement to the Leitrim Observer from the Rehab Group said that, "Conor and Martin take great pride and satisfaction in keeping their local area looking its best and every week both young Leitrim men collect bags of litter, which they collect scattered along the roads surrounding the Centre.
Conor and Martin often meet very appreciative members of the local area who always are very grateful to them for their contribution. They were originally inspired by Kay Maguire who continues to work tirelessly and with great dedication for her local community."
Every year a gathering of volunteers get together to give their time and energy to the Annual Spring Clean which this year, takes place on 3 April.
A representative told the Leitrim Observer: "They are very much looking forward to this one-day event and hoping for good weather on the day. Meanwhile they will continue with weekly dedication to keeping their local town a beautiful and inviting place to live."
