A Leitrim primary school is awaiting Leitrim County Council’s decision on its proposed expansion.
St Clare’s National School on Station Road in Manorhamilton, submitted a planning application in February to remove a temporary modular building containing one classroom, and construct single-storey extensions to the existing school building.
These would include a special educational needs classroom, three Special Education Teacher (SET) rooms, an office and ancillary spaces.
The application also seeks to enlarge the school’s car park, adding three staff car parking spaces.
In January, St Clare’s National School secured €350,000 from the National Transport Authority under the Safe Routes to School programme to improve safety and accessibility for the wider school community.
A decision on the school’s expansion is expected by April 10.
