A car in North Leitrim crashed into a stream overnight, with the driver managing to escape and avoiding any serious injury.
The single-vehicle collision occurred on the N16, and Gardaí from Manorhamilton attended the scene to provide assistance.
“Gardaí from Manorhamilton assisted by local Fire Service at the scene of a single vehicle RTC last night on N16. Fortunately the driver walked away with no serious injuries.
Road conditions remain challenging across the North West, with school closures in place and black ice on roads already creating treacherous driving conditions.
A text alert issued on Leitrim Alerts by Gardaí stated: “Please exercise extreme caution on the roads in the region this morning. All roads included treated roads are extremely dangerous. A number of accidents reported already. Only travel if necessary, reduce speed and increase distance between vehicles.”
