St Manchan’s National School in Mohill has been awarded funding for the refurbishment of two classrooms.
The project will involve reconfiguring the space to provide one mainstream classroom and one dedicated to special educational needs.
Minister for Education, Helen McEntee TD, announced the funding under the Additional School Accommodation Scheme.
This initiative ensures that essential mainstream and special education classrooms are available each year when existing school facilities or nearby schools cannot meet the demand.
Sligo-Leitrim TD Frank Feighan has welcomed the announcement.
“This is great news for the School Principal, staff, and the Board of Management, alongside the pupils and their parents and I want to congratulate the team involved in the application,” stated Deputy Feighan.
“The exact funding amount will be held back to allow a competitive tendering process that I hope that can get underway as soon as tender documents are completed.
“At a political level I want to thank Minister McEntee for this allocation of funding,” concluded Deputy Feighan.
