REMINDER: An extra hour in bed is just days away as the clocks go back

The clocks are set to go back by one hour this week after seven months. 

According to Citizens Information, the clocks will change at 2am on the last Sunday in October which falls on October 29 this year. 

Every winter, the clocks go back one hour and go forward one hour in spring, with changes occurring across the EU at the same time. 

Ireland has the same time as the UK and Portugal, which is one hour behind Central European Time, which is used in most of the EU. 

In 2019, the European Parliament voted in favour of ending seasonal time changes, however EU institutions have not made progress on implementing the decision since then.
