A prominent Irish barrister who is married to the cousin of US president, Joe Biden, has slammed Biden's response to the war in Gaza.

Responding to a statement released by President Biden which called for more humanitarian aid into Gaza following a slew of Israeli airstrikes, Joe Brolly told the president he "should be ashamed" of himself.

In a post on X, Brolly - who is married to the president's cousin Laurita Blewitt - stated: "You could have stopped this mass murder of defenseless civilians but instead have twisted the truth, and perverted the norms of morality and international law.

"If a few crumbs of aid salves your conscience, what does that make you?"

On Halloween, Biden confirmed the "largest delivery of life-saving humanitarian assistance so far" had been sent to Gaza, with more trucks reportedly cleared to enter today (November 1).

In his statement, he said, "But many more are needed. I'm not done pushing for more aid and will continue to support safe passage for Gaza civilians seeking safety."

Earlier this afternoon, the White House re-affirmed their commitment to helping Israel "defend itself against Hamas terrorists" while "ensuring continued humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza".

They insisted: "We can and must do both."

Joe Biden recently sparked fury online after doubting the number of people killed in Palestine.

Speaking in Washington DC on October 25, Biden said, "I have no notion if the Palestinians are telling the truth about how many people are killed. I'm sure innocents have been killed and it's the price of waging a war.

"I think we should be incredibly careful, I think Israel should be incredibly careful to be sure that they're focusing on going after the folks that are propagating this war against Israel. And it's against their interest when that doesn't happen.

"But I have no confidence in the number the Palestinians are using."

In response to this, Palestine's Hamas-controlled Health Ministry published a 212 page report listing the names, ages, sex and ID numbers of 6,747 dead Palestinians.

Fourteen hundred Israelis have died since the escalation of the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict on October 7.
