Nine motorists are set to receive fines and penalty points after they were caught speeding on a busy road close to Dublin City Centre over the weekend.

Highlighting the detections on social media, gardai say they were on duty in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Kilmainham area of the capital.

"Using the TruSpeed camera, (gardai) clocked nine speeding offences in a 60 km/h zone with some drivers doing between 75 km/h to 99 km/h," read the post.

All of those who were detected travelling will be issued with fixed charge penalty notices and they will also receive penalty points on their driving licences.

In the case of those who do not pay the fines, court proceedings will be initiated.
